BURLINGTON, MASS. — Wellness Pet Company debuted its new Wellness® WHIMZEES® Natural Dental Treats for cats on Jan. 25. The product marks the brand’s first-ever dental treat specifically for felines.
Dental and oral health issues are a growing health concern for pet parents. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, periodontal disease is the most common dental condition in cats and dogs. Additionally, it’s estimated that 70% of cats suffer from dental disease, according to the World Small Animal Veterinary Association. Pet parent awareness in pet oral health is skyrocketing, as evidenced by Pet Dental Health Month, held in February. Many consumers have turned to nutritional products to help prevent dental issues in their four-legged companions, increasing demand for dental treats.

Wellness WHIMZEES Natural Dental Treats for cats are designed to address four aspects of oral health: breath, plaque, tartar and gums. The treats consist of a crunchy, porous texture that supports mechanical abrasion as cats chew them, allowing their teeth to sink into each treat for cleaning.
The treats are available in three flavors: Chicken, Chicken and Salmon, and Chicken and Tuna. They are formulated with fresh chicken as the primary ingredient.
According to Wellness, when used regularly, WHIMZEES Natural Dental Treats for cats can help maintain dental health in addition to regular veterinary visits.
The cat dental treats join Wellness’ existing products for dogs, including WHIMZEES Natural Dental Treats and WHIMZEES Brushzees® Natural Dental Treats, the latter of which received the seal of acceptance from the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC).
