The ceremony will be held at Maysville Water Tower located at the corner of Jenkins Avenue and 3rd Street.

In Feb. of 2023 a state-of-the-art filtration system was funded with the help of USDA and State Legislators to supply safe water to residents.

A total of $503,000 were invested by Rural Development through a USDA Community Facilities Grant to make the improvements to the water supply.

In June of 2019 officials with the Town of Maysville were made aware of PFAS contaminants in the water system. Which forced them to turn off their town water supply and switch to the Jones County water system. Officials said once it was determined there was some form of the chemical in the area water, they immediately made the switch to provide safe drinking water for customers.

PFAS are a family of non-regulated man-made chemicals commonly called forever chemicals. They can cause a number of health problems and do not break down.

According to the town, the levels were above the EPA’s health advisory levels of 70 parts per trillion. PFAS were non-regulated and not monitored by the State at that time.
