Norton | Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced its Norton Winter Paradigm Plus Diamond Grinding Wheels. The wheels feature a premium grain technology to complement the established proprietary, patented, brittle-metal bond, resulting in a significant upgrade in performance on carbide round tools for fluting and gashing applications, as well periphery grinding on carbide and cermet inserts grinding. The new grain technology, together with a new, advanced lightweight core, reportedly produces lower specific cutting energy with a 25-50% higher material removal rate (MRR), and provides improved wheel life when compared with current Paradigm wheels.
The new resin-based core, available for round tool grinding, is over 75% lighter than previous models, and eliminates the risk of sparks while reducing chipping, breakage and chatter, providing better finishing in round tool applications. The Paradigm bond, which combines the wear resistance of a metal bonded wheel with the ease of profiling in a vitrified bonded wheel, has up to 46% porosity, enabling improved coolant flow for cooler cutting and reduced part burning, enabling truing and dressing.

The company also offers its new Norton Winter G-Force Plus Next Generation Diamond Wheels, which feature new premium grain technology with lower normal forces and higher performance. The wheels feature an improved hybrid bond technology, which is said to provide 25-50% increased MRR, and longer wheel life when compared with current G-Force wheels. New G-Force Plus Wheels offer higher feed rates and reduced cycle times, resulting in more parts per dress and reduced process costs. According to the company, improved edge holding, better part quality and surface finish are all key benefits of the new wheels. G-Force Plus Wheels provide cooler cutting when grinding a range of heat- and wear-resistant materials.
Norton G-Force Plus grinding wheels are made to order, and available profile shapes and wheel sizes can be reviewed in a flyer on the company’s website.
Ideal for light blending, stripping, edge breaking and surface prep applications, the new Norton flap discs feature special 3D non-woven abrasive layers.
The S36 is designed for productive external grinding of chuck and shaft components, which can serve industries including die and mold, aerospace, automotive and more.
Zinc Plated Steel Hex Head External Hex Drive Tiger 2.0 grinding wheels feature an advanced bond formulation that reduces uneven edge wear and chipping.
